USPTA Elite Professional
Finding a good coach for basic fundamentals is extremely important. Over the course of Jake's 20 year career to date, he has pieced together a tennis learning philosophy that is easy, simplistic and fun. Tennis has taken Jake on an incredible coaching journey. After playing HS tennis at Mingus, and training under northern AZ Master Pro Larry Lineberry, he received a scholarship to play college tennis for Dr. Greg Prudhomme (current GCU coach) in Phoenix. As a player, Jake acquired a NJCAA national ranking in the top 50 and then went on to play some professional tournaments. Coaching the game was his calling. Jake was hired at the prestigious International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport RI during the 2000's. In 2011 relocated to San Diego and started coaching at the Barnes Tennis Center (Youth Tennis San Diego) in Point Loma and was promoted to Director of Tennis from 2014 to 2016. These facilities really molded his developmental coaching skills. At Barnes, Jake trained some of the top nationally ranked juniors in the country. Remote Tennis' focus going forward, with the partnership and friendship of other USPTA coaches in the Verde Valley, is to continue to grow popularity for tennis with fun events, programming + instruction for juniors of all ages and adults.
